May 2023Great Time at this Fun All Inclusive - Excellent Food, Friendly Service
We recently had the pleasure of staying at The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences in Mexico with five other couples, taking advantage of the Mexico Keyless sale. We booked two 3-bedroom suites, which were set up as three separate hotel rooms with an outer door. The largest room featured a small kitchen, a table, and a cozy sitting area. Upon arrival, we were treated to "Epic Elite" service level, which came with several perks. We were able to check in at a special area, and we enjoyed reserved seating at one of the pools and on the beach. It definitely added a touch of exclusivity to our experience. One of the highlights of our stay was the food. We found the dining options at The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences to be exceptional, ranging from very good to outstanding. The variety and quality exceeded our expectations for an all-inclusive resort, surpassing what we had experienced at other similar resorts like Club Med. The resort was relatively uncrowded during our mid-May visit, and we were delighted to find an abundance of available chairs by the pools and on the beach. A pleasant surprise was the daily removal of sargassum, a type of seaweed, from the beach. This was not a concern for us, and we were able to enjoy the beautiful shoreline without any issues. During our stay, we took a recommended excursion to a Cenote and went snorkeling in Akumal. Our "ambassador" at the resort arranged the trip for us, and we were fortunate to have one of the best guides we had ever encountered. The excursion was fantastic and added an adventurous element to our vacation. One aspect we appreciated was that there was no additional charge for name brand well drinks such as Absolut and Bacardi. The service throughout the resort was friendly and attentive, which contributed to our overall positive experience. While the rooms were comfortable, it was evident that they had some signs of wear and tear, which is not uncommon for all-inclusive resorts in Mexico. The quality of the bed and pillows was excellent as were the toiletries. We didn't have a room with an upstairs private pool, but we didn't feel like we were missing out on anything. One of the best parts of our trip was the incredible value we got for the price. At $110 per person, plus the exchange fee, for an all-inclusive stay, we considered it a low-cost trip. We met other guests who had paid $5,000 for two people for a seven-day stay without utilizing the THIRDHOME program. Overall, our experience at The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences was delightful. From the excellent food and friendly service to the beautiful surroundings and exciting excursions, it provided us with a memorable vacation. We highly recommend this resort, especially if you're looking for a reasonably priced all-inclusive getaway in Mexico.”

April 2023The Worst Stay of My Life - never every go back there
Honestly, I have traveled extensively and this was by far the worst experience in my life. It started with the arrival. They try and upsell you in advance of everything and then when you arrive, they act like you haven't paid. We paid the all inclusive fee ahead of time plus spa time and cabanas and the lady that worked for the resort said she'd give us a discount by doing it in advance. Then, when we arrived, they said we had to pay the resort fee too. We had an email that said no, just the all inclusive, but they wouldn't let us check in without paying an added $2400. It took us all week to get a credit and then they only credited us the amount minus the discount they gave us for paying early. PS, they lie. They said everything was included, but in reality that was a lie. The wine was so terrible and any better wine was $100 per bottle. The reservations for the spa and the cabana's were not made even though we paid in advance. Then four out of five of us felt sick. I, however, ended up so sick I couldn't leave my room on the last night and had to change my flight because of the severe food poisoning. They literally forced me out of my room even though I was weak and still throwing up and made us change rooms and they charged us for the extra night, acting like we were having fun instead of vomiting for ten hours straight. They seem to think food poisoning is funny. Another lady we met at the resort earlier in the week ended up hospitalized with food poisoning for two days. I myself am still not better and it has been eight days. These people /resort is so bad, I beg you do not go. Because of this stay I will no longer trust 3rd home reservations. I do not think this represents the quality home that I gave up in exchange and not to mention the fees they charge like the resort fee if you don't pay the all inclusive. It's a gimmick. Run from this place as fast as you can!!!!!!”
