Hound Ears Stay

I have stayed at this property multiple times and it is absolutely amazing. The location to various activities is so convenient and the location of the property on the 18th green at Hound Ears Golf Club is just a perfect setting. The property is well maintained and the furnishings are terrific. I would highly recommend at stay here anytime of the year. ”

Summer getaway

Nancy and I had a wonderful time at the North Carolina Gem. The home is amazing, comfortable and eclectic with all of the conveniences and then some. The views from the porches are beautiful with the golf course 18th hole in the foreground and the mountains in the background. The golf course is very good and in immaculate condition. We enjoyed playing it three times. Everyone at Hound Ears, staff and members, is very tuned in to proper social distancing, which was a comfort in this time of COVID 19. We enjoyed the Clubhouse for dinner and also visited Blowing Rock for sight seeing and dining... again, quite strict social distancing. We would love to return to the Gem!!!”

Hound Ears

This is the second time I have stayed at the beautiful home in Hound Ears through Third Home. The location is excellent and the accomodations where great. Incredible views overlooking the golf course surrounded by beautiful mountains. Convenient to all major attractions in the area. Highly recommend this great home. ”

Golfing in the mountains

The home was very comfortable to stay in. It had a very interesting western motif. There were two decks to relax and watch people come up to the 18th hole. As my wife and our golfers we enjoyed staying here. The golf course was a lot of fun and very well kept and the home was right on the 18th green so that was easy to walk to the clubhouse in the pro shop. Our host Jordan was extremely concerned with our well-being. He was constantly in contact with us and checked up on us several times to make sure everything was OK and we were having fun. There are plenty of restaurants in the area and places for us to hike. ”

Gracious, Casually Elegant, Welcoming Home!

Coming from New England, the southern charm of this immaculate and sprawling estate on the 18th green at Hound Ears Club was a most welcome respite! This luxury home was so well appointed and decorated! At the same time, upon entering the premises, we literally felt like we were home. This home imparts a feeling of comfort and has a wonderful "soul." We had our 20 something daughters, my brother the golf pro, and my sister and brother in laws all gather for a wonderful week here. Our host, Jordan, was attentive and accommodating, always a quick phone call away and bent over backward to make sure we had all the comforts his home and the club had to offer. We used the amazing course daily, we ventured out to fabulous zip lines, and a couple of great restaurants., and we just chilled. Sunrise to sunset the vistas were stunning. We even snuck onto the 18th green at dusk for a family putting contest but don't tell anyone! The layout of this home allowed for privacy as well as gracious family gatherings - we were so sad to leave. We will be back so don't go here because we don't want you to take our slots. ;)”

We HATED this place!

NOT really! We LOVED this place; we just don't want everybody else to book it so we wouldn't be able to. The setting is absolutely stunning: on the 18th green with beautiful stacks of mountains in the distance. The outdoor areas are so inviting -- the fire pit and adirondack chairs beside the mountain stream, patio, swing ,deck, and hot tub. And then you walk into the spacious home -- a gourmet kitchen, living room and den, bar, gigantic master suite, and guest quarters that would easily accommodate another family. Jordan is the consummate, attentive host. We had a slight plumbing problem, and he must have called us 8 times to make sure everything was okay. It WAS okay! His golf cart, the club privileges, and the relaxation of his home were all we needed to de-stress from the Lowcounry heat. Jordan's home will be our mountain "fix" of choice in the future. DON"T go there!!!! ”

Beautiful NC mountain crib

We had a fantastic time at this beautiful mountain house. We took some friends with us and enjoyed playing the challenging Hound Ears course. Even after losing 4 brand new Pro V1 golf balls into the streams I would have to say one of the most beautiful courses I have ever played. We also hiked up to Grandfather mountain on the Profile trail and made it to McCraes Peak for the spectacular views. One of the highlights was dinner at the Artisanal Restaurant. All in our group had hard accolades of the restaurant and none of us had ever eaten there so a real treat as it is arguably one of the best restaurants in North Carolina! We had plans to go fly fishing one morning on the Watauga River but we had a rain storm come through so we sat on the deck deck and drank some good wine and played cards!! Hopefull on my next visit I can fish the Watauga and hopefully I will find some of my Pro V1 golf balls and catch some trout!! ”

Amazing view

Great home on the golf course. We enjoyed morning walks on the golf course since the course was closed. We couldn't have done this if it hadn't been closed. Very high end kitchen appliances made for easy cooking. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub and enjoyed the awesome view. We would definitely come back. ”

WE LOVE THIS PLACE!

Driving up the winding NC mountain roads lead us to the anticipation of what to expect. But, we had no idea what we were about to experience. We arrived in Hound Ears, a private gated community, located under Grandfather mountain and a priceless view of the 18th green of this private course. When we walked in, the owner had left us a nice note and his favorite bottle of wine. The owner had recommended the restaurant Gamekeeper, just a five minute drive from his home. There, we felt like Rockstars, because we were guest of this well known host. On the menu was Ostrich, Elk, Bison, local lamb, and fresh caught trout. The okra salad was the best I have ever had, also, make sure you get the fried oysters. The next day we played an amazing 18 holes of golf at Hound Ears. What views!!! That afternoon, a cart ride up to the famous Hound Ears Rocks with views like on a movie set. The next night, dinner at Artisinal, ranked the #1 restaurant in NC and now I know why! One of the best meals I have ever had. A bespoke setting with an amazing chef from NYC Le Cirque Restaurant, this was a world class dining experience. Fly Fishing, waterfalls, antique shopping, Mast General Store, the town of Linville, Grandfather mountain, all of this within minutes from this home. The host/member is fantastic. He had the home all set for us, a bottle of wine, dinner reservations, tee time, and more. This is what 3RD HOME is all about. The hot tub is private but overlooking the 18th green. The host owner has a fire pit just down by the creek. Inside is a kitchen designed for gourmet cooking. A gas powered 6 passenger golf cart is available. In the master bedroom is a fireplace along with a fireplace in the great room. The home is decorated perfectly. You will LOVE this place! ”

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this comfortable and spacious home with its upscale amenities. Especially savored was the spectacular view from the chestnut deck where we lingered in the mornings over coffee and in the evenings, over cocktails. Relaxing in the outdoor hot tub's changing colors was also special. Nearby Blowing Rock is full of picturesque shops, galleries, and eateries, the original Mast General Store is less than 5miles away, and the view atop Grandfather Mt. is breathtaking. Further, downtown Boone, near the college, is a worthy excursion. Excellent cuisine in several 5-star restaurants will delight the most sophisticated of palates. We would definitely return.”
