July 2020Rocking Chair Lodge
The people at Moving Mountains made our stay at Rocking Chair Lodge relaxing and pleasant. The house is very special. Wonderful kitchen, great living and dining areas. Our kids loved the climbing wall and entertaining facilities. We, the adults, enjoyed the huge porch. Thank you Neil for sharing your home.”

January 2018Perfect for 5 couples and our adult children!
A group of 5 couples were looking for a place to stay for a fun winter vacation and this was it! Each room has its own bathroom and the suites are large! The master bed is ridiculously huge! The 6th room, which also has its own bathroom, we left available for any adult children who could pop in for part of the week. One bedroom also had its own kitchenette so if you travel with a nanny (or other person) who wants/needs privacy this would be a good alternative. 3 large SUVs fit in the parking garage. Skiing - Not all of us skied, but for those who did, it could not have been more convenient for skiing. A concierge service came to the home to fit us with equipment and after that all we needed to do was put on our ski boots and hop on the shuttle provided by The Porches and be driven to the mountain where are skis were waiting outside the lodge! Other activities - Not every day was good for skiing and even if we stayed in, there was a lot to do. The Barn, which is where the amenities for The Porches neighborhood are located, is right across the street and you could use the pool and exercise facilities. Also there is a hot tub at the house. We also booked snowmobiling, horseback riding and sleigh ride dinners using the concierge on site. Gourmands - We all enjoy cooking and each couple was responsible for one dinner during the week. Grocery shopping is nearby and the kitchen is amazing and was so much fun to work in! The coffee maker is over the top! The owner put every kitchen amenity that exists into this kitchen. It even had an AGA which we all were interested in learning how to use. You might think that cooking while on vacation is a chore - but working in this kitchen was fun! The dining room is huge and at one point we had 13 people comfortably at the table! It was so much better than trying to get reservations at restaurants for that many people each night. You could even hire a chef to come and cook if you wanted to, In the evenings - After a day skiing, we did not necessarily want to drive into town every night for night life. We enjoyed staying at the Rocking Chair Lodge and popping popcorn and watching movies in the big theatre - we tried the climbing wall, we played pool and ping pong - we had card games going on all week. Some people chose quiet time to read in front of the beautiful fireplace. The owner was in town while we were there and he was very friendly and helpful. He enjoyed showing us some unique aspects of his home. We had left a pair of shoes behind which we had not realized (it is easy to misplace things here, it is so large!) and he made the effort to contact us and arrange to mail them back to us. Rocking Chair Lodge is more than a home or a house - it is a self-contained resort. It is beautiful! We hope that there is another winter week availability this year! ”
