June 2023Wonderful 50th Anniversary Trip for my Parents
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the waterfront Oasis. My kids enjoyed the pool and it was a short walk to the local beach as you can’t swim in the lagoon in front of the house. Plenty of space for the 6 of us. Close yo shopping and restaurants. ”

August 2023Peaceful
This house was beautiful in a very quiet gated community of 4 houses. All the kitchen appliances, and utensils were high end and we had everything we needed Loved that it was away from the congestion of downtown HNL and Waikiki”

July 2023Great Location and Host (the reason for 2 stars)
And the pool is nice and the host was very understanding of our concerns so that takes it out of the 1 star category. Keep in mind I very rarely take the time to write a review, but in this case I feel it is necessary so you know what to expect. The home is considered "old Hawaiiana" which means it is bascially as it was built 60 years ago with what appears to be the original doors and screens, on the ocean, so you can imagine what kind of shape things are in. I was more concerned about breaking things by just using them normally since there are signs about not using doors etc so I was afraid to touch anything for fear of breaking it and with a 9 and 14 year old in tow it is hard to imagine they would remember to not open a window or door that would crumble if you used a vigorous motion. You only have 3 egress points to the home. One of which only works going outdoors from the master, the latch is broken to get back in so really 2 1/2. No central HVAC, just the master with a retrofitted A/C so you better have good weather outdoors or you will not likely be comfortable. I could not in good conscience make my kids sleep with just fan cooling and a low of 77 to stay cool. Reliance on mother nature for climate control is not what we flew 2500 miles to force our family to endure. In our case it was 89 during the day and 77 at night so it was miserable inside when we arrived around 2 pm and the odds it would ever get below 80 in the extra bedrooms was not good. A lot of rules about not leaving food out and sealing anything that could attract pests and then taking out all trash every night, because the opened windows and breeze will obviously attract critters you don't want. Very similar to camping rules to avoid bears and animals etc.. There was a gecko indoors, which is fine and cute but clearly anything that wants to get in can get in. We were there for just enough time to book our week between Turtle Bay and the Four Seasons. To be honest my 9 year old loved the pool and did not want to leave. He will do well staying in youth hostels when he gets a little older. The 14 year old was definitely on board with leaving. We did not expect a 5-star hotel like experience from the pictures but if it were a hotel it would be a 1-Star. The twin beds are super old and just a lot of old strange furniture desks etc. A modest investment would change the home dramatically but it really needs to have all the doors and windows replaced and A/C throughout to make it anthing but a 1-2 star property. Keep in mind the home is only protected by a gate from a highway, you cannot lock any doors or secure the home in any way so as long as you are ok with essentially camping with an a/c in just the master bedroom, you will not be disappointed. Also, don't plan on using the lagoon for anything but looking at. No Paddle boards or swimming allowed. Had I known all of this I would have just booked the hotels first and avoided the 1k dollar THIRDHOME tax and a bunch of lost keys. My THIRDHOME booking said I saved 11,250.00 booking the home. I would say take that money and stay at Turtle Bay it is beyond well worth it even if just for a few days given the price tag I would give Turtle Bay more than 5 stars if possible...”
