Baita 1697

Baita 1697 is a 17th century Piedmontese six-bedroom farmhouse, lovingly restored by an internationally acclaimed interior designer. Resting on 5000 square feet of rustic luxury, this incredible home offers earthy and pastoral sensibilities paired with modern finishes. Featured in Architectural Digest, Conde Nast Traveler, The Times, and more, Baita 1697 sleeps twelve adults and six kids in five elegant suites and features a media room with a double bed and a kids dorm.

This beautiful home is fully furnished to the highest of standards, offering incredibly soft Egyptian cotton bed sheets, underfloor heating in all bathrooms, and top of the range fittings and salon standard hair dryers and other amenities. The home has two extremely spacious living areas, both with open wood fireplaces to keep you warm on chilly nights. One of the common areas can be found on the ground floor and opens directly up to the gourmet kitchen, and the second leads out to a stunning rooftop terrace featuring a wooden hot tub. Spend cool nights rejuvenating in the soothing waters of the hot tub as you overlook awesome views of Monte Banchetta, the very slope you may have skied down earlier that day!

After getting in from the slopes, there is a drying room with underfloor heating for storage of ski gear and an adjacent laundry room. TVs can be found in every room and you’ll have access to the international film library and multiple cable channels during your stay. The house has WIFI throughout and iPod docking stations for your use.

Baita 1697 is connected by cable car (seconds from the door and a just a five-minutes ride up) to the second largest ski area in Europe, known as the Milky Way, which spreads over five impressive resorts, across Italy and France, and has 400km of piste. The resort of Sestriere in the Milky Way hosted the downhill Olympics in 2006, so within about 12 minutes from leaving the door, you can be skiing an Olympic downhill run all the way back to the chalet, on the piste which runs right to the front door. The hamlet where Baita 1697 is located also hosted the cross country Winter Olympics, so there are excellent tracks which run right through the National park that Baita 1697 is adjacent to.

At the top of the cable car, there is a heli-ski launch pad and a fabulous restaurant with a sun terrace for skiers and non-skiers alike. There are two charming hamlets within walking distance of your home that both have excellent local Italian restaurants. From elegant dining with over six courses, to fondue and raclette, to French-Italian fusion, to pizza from one of the best pizzerias in Italy, you will never be short of scrumptious dining options! We can also offer a fully catered service which the likes of Jamie Oliver have very much enjoyed in the past.
